Starting therapy isn’t easy. In fact, it can be incredibly hard. You know what else is hard? Feeling bad all the time. Living in your own pain and discomfort constantly.
You’re ready for some relief.
You’re here now because you’ve reached the point where you just can’t take the pain and discomfort anymore. . You want to feel better and to take a closer look at the thing that’s making you feel bad so that if it ever comes back, you’ll know how to manage it.
You’re here because you want someone who will challenge you to go deeper, who will help you see the parts of yourself that aren’t serving you anymore. You want someone who will help you connect the past to the present to the future, who will help you see harmful patterns and guide you through changing them.
You’re here to accept the parts of your self that never needed to be changed in the first place.
It’s okay to live in the gray.
Here’s the thing. The moment that you don’t know what to do with yourself anymore is the moment you can begin to discover yourself. When you can let yourself feel everything without shame and judgement. When “I’m too much” no longer enters your mind. When the need to control literally all.the.things begins to fade.
That sounds great, you say, but HOW? Give me allll the steps, plz.
While I’m not someone who will lay out a step-by-step process for you (I wish!) I do find that grief and self-loathing and fear respond best to authenticity. That once we can get to your authentic self you will be able to handle ANYTHING that comes your way. Will you feel worse before you feel better? Maybe. But then, somehow, the scariest things really do stop feeling so scary.
Therapy for people who want to go deeper.
Luckily I have learned a few useful tricks along the way - like hypnotherapy, somatic therapy, and existential talk therapy - that I’m very excited to share with you.
Hi, I’m Mary.
I’ve been a therapist for more than a decade, and I’m here to listen to you talk about it all. You are never going to be okay if you don’t talk about how much you hurt. I’m here to walk with you through the sadness and the anxiety and the rage (oh, how I love the rage). Using a blend of somatic and modern psychoanalytic techniques, I’ll help you go into what hurts and learn to move through it with both gentleness and fury.
Therapy won’t take away the pain of being human. It will help you learn to sit in the pain and hold yourself with loving kindness.
Work with Me
Individual Therapy
If you are drawn to existential, spiritual, and embodied approaches to understanding yourself I am the right therapist for you. I weave together multiple experiential and somatic frameworks to help you look at your emotions and patterns of behavior. I also offer practical psychoeducational tools for calming your nervous system and understanding your attachment style. I strongly believe in a collaborative, non-hierarchal practice and bring compassion and a sense of humor to every session (laughing is one of my favorite ways to calm the nervous system).
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a healing method that allows you to directly access your subconscious mind where your emotions and memories tend to live. Inside a trance state (which feels kind of like a deep meditative state) we can get to the origin of your issue and heal it.
Emotional Freedom Technique (Tapping)
Tapping allows us to work with your energetic system and universal energy to help you find new insights into yourself and calm your nervous system. It’s also my favorite tool for helping to heal PTSD and acute trauma.
Treatment Specializations
I work with clients impacted by: anxiety and panic, depression and grief, trauma and PTSD/CPTSD, addiction, phobias, and somatic issues and chronic illness. I also specialize in working with members of polyamorous and LGBTQIA+ communities.
